Since last March, wearing a face mask has become second nature to us all. Masks are now a wardrobe essential and something we will be wearing for the foreseeable future. Wearing face masks can be fashionable as well as functional and they are a form of self expression. Matching your face mask to your outfit has become the hottest look of 2021 with many celebrities and royals embracing the trend.
The Duchess of Cambridge matches a navy blue blazer with an elegant floral print face mask which perfectly complements her outfit.
Duchess of Cambridge
The Vampire’s Wife is a clothing brand that designs evening dresses with matching face masks for a coordinated look. Duchess Catherine wore one of their elegant dresses to a high profile event at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin last March. The brand is now available to order online at net a porter.com and Selfridges.
Jill Biden
Irish designer, Laura Weber created the embroidery on First Lady, Jill Biden’s white cashmere coat, silk wool dress and matching face mask worn at Inauguration Day on January 20th. The stunning dress and coat was designed by Gabriela Hearst.
Laura and her team spent two to four hours applying a flower for each of the fifty US states to the dress’s silk organza neckline and arms. Weber’s specialty is attention to detail as she specifically embroidered the Delaware flower on Dr Biden’s mask. She also ensured that the Delaware symbol, the First Lady’s home state, was placed near her heart on the dress.
Cindy Crawford
Choose a face mask that matches the same pattern as your top like Cindy Crawford has done here with her fabulous tie dye blouse and matching mask set by Californian fashion label, Le Superbe. If you love tie dye then check out Cotton Citizen for their funky range of face masks.
Face masks with bows
Collina Strada designs face masks that fasten with bows and have an opening to insert your own filter inside. Each mask purchased will be providing three masks to healthcare workers in New York City.
Top Shop face masks
For a more casual look, check out the affordable range of face masks available at Top Shop (now part of asos). These are perfect to pair with loungewear or a pair of jeans and a top. Designs come in tie dye, floral, sequins and animal print so there’s something for everybody.
My pro tip for matching your face mask to your outfit is to choose a colour that complements the colour of your outfit as Coterie member, Jessie Randall has done here. It’s much more subtle than trying to go all matchy matchy!
Wow love your mask made from your own artwork. It’s fab🙌🏻
Thank you! ☺️
