Hot New Fashion Trends for 2018!

So the holiday period is history and you need something to perk you up to beat the January blues? What better way to brighten up your wardrobe for your return to work than to check out this season’s hot new fashion trends! Make Spring/Summer 2018 your most colourful yet.

1. Pastel Shades

Get ready to embrace accessories in pastel shades such as the pink pastel colour block slim purse for only €17 at River Island, perfect to brighten up any black or white wardrobe staple. Asos currently stock a cute pearl soft three-quarter length coat in lilac which is amazing paired with an all white ensemble of top, leggings and pumps for a casual and relaxed Spring look.

2. Cowgirl Cool

Last S/S ’17, I fell in love with the boho western style with fringe detailing on tops, skirts, dresses and blouses. The trend for cowgirl cool looks set to continue in 2018.  I’m a big fan of being cosy, casual and comfortable during those chilly, dreary January days. River Island stock a very stylish black and cream print fringe sweater for €60. The sweater is perfect worn with skinny black jeans and ankle boots.

3. Fringe Detail

Zara is by far my brand of choice and I popped into the King St store in Dublin this weekend and spotted a gorgeous black blazer with fringe detail on the collar and cuffs as well as pearls adorning the front of the jacket. The original price was €79.99 down to a steal at only €39.99, what a bargain! This blazer is perfect worn with layering underneath including a skinny rib turtleneck, scarf and your favourite pair of distressed denim jeans – ideal for a work to night out transformation!

4. Checks

Make a bold, sartorial impact at the office with this very chic, belted wool blend check jacket from H&M for €49.99. It’s the perfect addition to tailored black trousers/cigarette pants for an ultra professional look. The jacket has a detachable belt with a metal fastener at the waist. Victoria Beckham, Burberry and Sonia Rykiel have all featured check and plaid print on the catwalks for S/S  making it one of the popular hot new fashion trends for 2018!

5. Sequins

The 70’s revival lives on in 2018 with sequin embellished tops, dresses, skirts and shoes. Team a sequin skirt with a sweatshirt for a striking contrast. For a totally chic, going out look, check out the heavily embellished long sleeve top in rose for €39.19 at Asos. Remember though, that less is more and only wear one  item of clothing or accessories with sequins to maximise the impact. The black sequinned high heel ankle boots from Zara for only €29.99 are perfect worn with a floaty and feminine floral print dress.

6. Ruffles

Romantic ruffles are back and have been shown on the catwalks by Alexander McQueen, Givenchy and Valentino.  One of my favourite bold colours for this season is burgundy (it works so well with beige) and Zara currently stock a gorgeous  burgundy ruffled blouse with a contrasting black bow for only €29.95 which is ideal worn with black trousers for a smart work-wear ensemble.
