What are your fashion guilty pleasures? Everyone has an item or two in their wardrobe that they’ve had for ages that’s comfy and as well worn as an old shoe but that they simply can’t get rid of. It’s a wardrobe staple that goes with everything i.e. a classic, timeless jacket or blazer, a favourite pair of cowboy boots, a garish, embroidered jacket that you love wearing with your favourite pair of denim jeans. Do you love to wear 70s style flares but would never admit to buying them let alone wearing them in public?!
Some things get better with age and ten thousand wears – the more distressed, battered & well worn the better! Let me share some of MY fashion guilty pleasures with you:
1. Belted Biker Jacket from Zara
This faux leather biker jacket has been a wardrobe staple of mine for eight years but it’s my favourite and the most well worn in my wardrobe – it goes with just about everything! It’s not even real leather but it looks expensive and I’ve gotten so many compliments every time I wear it. I love to pull a ‘rock chic’ look and have worn it to so many concerts over the years including Thirty Seconds To Mars in London, May 2015. If this jacket could talk it would have some saucy stories to tell! The jacket is frayed on the inside collar and has bits of material falling off at the back but will I ever get rid of it – no way! I wear it with a funky t-shirt, ripped denim jeans and ankle boots for a distressed, rock chic look!
2. Embroidered Jacket & Shirts
I’ve never admitted to embracing the embroidered detail trend but sometimes I like to indulge my passion for colour and just try something new! Zara have quite a stunning range of chic, boho style, embroidered khaki jackets for only €59.95.
The detail on the back of the jacket is beautiful and enhanced with cute pom poms. I wear this with my favourite pair of old, well-worn, distressed denim jeans. I’m a self-confessed minimalist and wear lots of black so I like to keep my wardrobe simple, clean and chic but now and again I like to splash out in a whacky new trend to update my wardrobe!
Zara also stock a gorgeous, floral embroidered khaki shirt for €49.95. Perfect worn with any type of denim jeans – cropped, distressed or flared.
3. Monochrome Print Blazer
I have a life-long obsession with monochrome so I can’t part with this funky blazer from Next that’s been my work wardrobe staple for as long as I’ve had my faux leather biker jacket.
It’s so classy, chic, easy to wear and perfect with a red pencil skirt, black skinny jeans or trousers. It’s taken me from the office to many a night on the town and never seems to go out of fashion so I’m not getting rid of it any time soon!
4. Embroidered Jacquard Court Shoes
Yet again, I’ve indulged many a shoe fetish from the Zara collection and this pair proves irresistible!
These stunning blue heels with red, black and white leaf detail are only €39.95 and perfect to jazz up a pair of cropped, distressed jeans. Keep the look simple with a white tee and a chic, tailored blazer – all eyes will be on your sexy feet!
5. Classic Goth Tee
It seems like the goth look is always going to be trendy which is fantastic news for me as I don’t want to get rid of this sexy, goth, black lace tee with plunging neckline!
I’ve had it for at least seven years but I’m not starting to get the itch to toss it just yet! The detail is stunning & it’s perfect worn with the aforementioned faux leather biker jacket and a pair of distressed jeans. Add jet black kohl eyeliner, ruby red lips & you’re all set for a goth night out!
Guilty pleasures are the things we do that we love but don’t tell anyone. Keep indulging your fashion guilty pleasures – it’s what makes fashion fun!
